Soul of Islam

The article titled "War for the soul of Islam in India" was an
excellent account of the prevailing prejudices in India against the
Muslims. There have been "fatwas" and "condemnations" of the Islam
inspired acts of terrorism, and dismay on the prejudices of the
security forces linking terrorism with Islam. The security personel as
well as common people can not be blamed for such distorted outlook,
over the years the incidents have been such that any mind would be
"eluded" owing to the empirical evidences. All major recent terrorist
attacks - Attack on Parliament ,Akshardham, Mumbai local Blasts ,
Glasgow mishap , Varanasi Blast , UP bombings have been perpetrated
with Islamic Jihad as their basis and how much ever secular and
unorthodox we try to be some where it has given an impression on every
mind of an invisible nexus prevailing between terrorism and Islam,
which is really sad and detrimental to the unity and secularism of the
country. The need of the hour is not claims and proclamations just to
distance oneself from the acts of terrorism- as done by Jamait
Ulema-e-Islam- but a more concentrated and dedicated effort to prevent
the acts of vandalism that are being carried out in the name of
"Jehad", the seminaries are putting in more effort keep themselves
vindicated rather than trying to actually hit at the roots of the
evil.
